Yes, there is. Just apply a weak benzoyl peroxide gel or lotion. Get the 2.5% concentration if you can find it. It may not work as quickly as the higher concentration benzoyl peroxide gels, but it is more gentle on your skin. For acne care treatment, the high concentration BP gels (like 5% and 10%) are a double-edged sword. They are more effective at drying out your pimples, but they also irritate your skin more. Together with poor hygiene and hormones, skin irritation is one of the biggest causes of acne.

Salicylic acid and tea tree oil are also effective for acne care treatment. If you do not have any of these three items at hand, you can use the disinfectant from your home’s first aid kit. Like benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and tea tree oil, the disinfectant kills the bacteria in your pimples. While they may not be the same bacteria which caused this pimple, they definitely continue to inflame your skin and make your acne worse. Getting rid of this bacteria will help to reduce the redness and severity of your acne.

Another important step in acne care treatment is to apply moisturizer to your skin. This is especially important if you use 5% benzoyl peroxide. I still prefer 2.5% BP, but I could not find this on my last few trips to my local grocer.

Nowadays, I just wash my face two or three times a day. Usually, I just use a cheap non-soap cleanser bought from the local grocery. Sometimes, when the mood strikes me, I will buy an unscented glycerin bar instead. When I was younger, I found good results with Sebamed and Blackmore’s Tea Tree Oil cleansers, but I find that I no longer need them these days.

After washing my face, I just pat dry with a small, clean face towel. This means I have to change my face towels twice daily, but hygiene is very important for acne care treatment.

I make sure that I only pat my face with the towel – no rubbing at all. Rubbing the towel against my face could irritate my skin, which could cause more pimples to erupt. Additionally, rubbing the towel could break any existing pimples. Fortunately, there are usually no acne outbreaks unless I am under a great deal of stress.

Just patting the towel against my skin will not dry it completely. That is not a problem. I just let my skin dry in the air, naturally. That is all I do for the face cleansing part of my daily acne care treatment regimen.
