Natural Acne Remedy: Does Olive Oil Work For Natural Acne Skin Care? This Is What Happened To Me!

Acne care treatment with olive oil. Sounds ridiculous, doesn’t it? Especially to many of us who suffer from acne due to oily skin. But I read too many claims about using olive oil for natural acne skin care for me to ignore. So I decided to test it out.

There are actually 4 different ways of using olive oil as a natural acne remedy:

  • Use a cleanser made from olive oil extract
  • Cleanse your face with olive oil (Use it like a make-up remover)
  • Use it as a facial masque
  • Use olive oil as a moisturizer

To be frank, I only tested olive oil as a masque and as a moisturizer. I didn’t even apply it to my whole face, just to the area below my mouth.

Now, those who used EVOO as a masque say they could see the sebum being slowly pulled out of the pores on their nose and cheeks. I never noticed this effect myself.

Olive oil, used as a moisturizer, is supposed to help give your skin a healthy glow. I was more worried about EVOO making my skin more oily. In the end, this worry was unfounded. Or maybe I should say that my skin is usually so oily that applying olive oil to it did not have any noticeable effect.

Conclusion – How Does Olive Oil Rate for Acne Care Treatment?
My skin did not become more oily than usual. I did not suffer any new acne outbreaks. There was no improvement in my skin condition, but also nothing got worse. Basically, status quo.

On the other hand, if I was trying to get rid of a pimple by applying benzoyl peroxide, then the extra virgin olive oil from the kitchen makes for a good, cheap moisturizer with no side-effects (unlike some commercial moisturizers).

Would I recommend EVOO as a facial masque? Why not? It didn’t do me any harm, and it may do you some good.
